SMCS Creates John Olson Memorial Fund for Charlestown Health Center

Charlestown Health Center on Ceda Road was built because John Olson believed in it.  He was convinced that it would be a valuable asset - not only to his company, Whelen Engineering, but also to the entire region.

John’s vision has been realized. Since it opened in July 2017, this 8,200-square-foot building, one of the nine community health centers operated by SMCS, has increased available health care services with occupational health and on-site x-ray services, as well expanded access to obstetrics/gynecology and behavioral health services.

John passed away this past August and SMCS is leading a fund raising drive to endow a memorial fund in John’s name to support Charlestown Health Center for years to come.  If you or a loved one has received special care at the Charlestown Health Center, and would like to make a donation in John’s memory, you may send a check payable to Charlestown Health Center to SMCS Development Office, PO Box 2003, Springfield, VT 05156 or make a gift on line at

Thank you for remembering and honoring John Olson.
