Springfield Medical Care Systems is excited to announce that it has been the recipient of several new grants.

The Promise Community Initiative

SMCS received a grant for $5,000 to expand its Children’s Dental Health program, and Springfield Hospital received a grant for $10,000 to expand support for low-income families and newborns in its Childbirth Center.

Northeast Delta Dental

Long-time funding partner Northeast Delta Dental awarded SMCS a grant in the amount of $4,558 to purchase a new surgical drill for use in the Chester Dental Center. The new drill will allow us to place dental implants, and to surgically extract teeth, including wisdom teeth.

Jack and Dorothy Byrne Foundation

The Byrne Foundation matched new gifts and employee gifts for a month in addition to the $15,000 donated by the Foundation directly to the Childbirth Center project. This matching pledge totaled approximately $3,000.

Fanny Holt Ames and Edna Louise Holt Fund

SMCS recently received $75,000 from the Holt Fund as the second year disbursement of the original $150,000 grant, which allowed SMCS to provide dental services in local elementary schools. In the first year alone, more than 200 students received dental cleanings. We expect this number to rise in year 2. The hygienist saw many children who had never been to the dentist, and were so grateful to have a clean smile!
